Emotions are sensations created by the brain in connection with the nervous system through neurophysical changes that are usually linked to the experiences of the past. Being emotional is normal in everyone. People get into situations that make them react as a way of response in diverse ways. Some react positively and some do negatively. This is normal. There are people who just don’t have a reason for their actions. They can’t just explain why they do what they do. When they talk, you will hear them say, ‘I know what I am doing is wrong’, so why doing it then? Sometimes they appear confused, the next minute they seem to calculate. In most cases, when they are being interrogated for their action, they just would have no explanation to give.
Emotions can be seen in diverse expressions. Some of these expressions are pleasant expressions while some others are unpleasant. Examples of emotions are fear, trust, joy, contempt, excitement, shame, sadness, guilt, anger, pride, disgust, embarrassment, worship, amusement, desire, hope, confusion, disappointment, distress, belief, interest, love, hunger, etc(1). Emotions are quite strong that they can influence how people think, live, and associate with other people. The most powerful emotion is fear(1). Fear is so powerful that it can affect and triumph over one’s intelligence.
In our world today, people are becoming emotionally unstable rapidly because of the numerous problems we see these days. This can be dangerous. People start getting emotionally unstable when they begin to lose their ability to manage and control their emotions. It is a good thing to know who is stable emotionally and who is not. It saves us some problems. Below are some ways to know people who are emotionally unstable.
1. Emotionally unstable individuals often find themselves in a difficult situation when it comes to good decision making. This can be seen in their inability to handle cases and in making expenses.
2. They experience changes in their mood frequently. At one point they are happy, the next minute they are sad. This makes dealing with them so difficult, especially when they become bosses in establishments. You can’t just please them.
3. Their frequent mood-swing also makes them act abnormal. You see them getting angry because they see someone is happy. They also become happy when someone is angry or sad. They like flouting laws and orders. They will be the one driving across traffic lines, while others are waiting.
4. The emotionally unstable always have this hunger to maim or kill. When they get into a fight, their aim won’t be to beat you up and let you go. They would prefer fighting you to death. That makes them dangerous. In most cases, they up crying and regretting their actions, but by then someone is already gone.
5. Committing suicide is always an available option for them. They would not mind taking their life by any means if things turn out badly for them. Being patient and waiting to see the outcome of a thing is not in their dairy.
6. Smoking and drinking alcohol might not be their lifestyle, yet you will see them drink and smoke once in a while. They often do this in an attempt to calm their nerves, yet they still end up becoming worse, losing control of their emotions the more.
