Money is good. Money is sweet. With money, we can solve a lot of problems. Money is also powerful. It is powerful because it has a very strong influence on human lives. As a matter of fact, you do not know a person until he or she has money. This is why you hear people say a poor man is nobody. Because you can never tell the real behavior of a person until the person starts having money. This is when you truly know if the person is stingy, greedy, proud, or humble. So, do not describe a poor man to be humble. If you want to know his level of humility, give him good money.

All these qualities of money are what can make someone say money has value. But surprisingly, as valuable as money is, there are things that are of more value than money. If you have money and do not have these things you are as good as the poor. Because in a short while you will cease from being rich and become poor, not knowing why. We have seen rich and influential people become broke after their years of plenty. This is because they had the money, but was lacking that which is more valuable than money. To be rich and remain rich, these are the valuable things you need to get there.

1. Sound health

Health is wealth because it is only the healthy that gets wealthy. I have seen people showing so much concern about gathering wealth, but very little concern about their health. This is the wrong approach to life. It’s like putting the cart before the horse. Your health has more value than money.

2. Good name

Having a good reputation is more valuable than the whole money in the world. In countries where criminal records are been kept for individuals, you will be of more advantage (whether rich it poor) in judicial matters, when you have a zero record of crime. This shows how valuable a good name is. Kidnapper, ritualists, drug dealers, Internet fraudsters, with all their ill-gotten wealth, live their life in a hide-out from any law enforcement agents they can think of because they have so much money, but no good name. While money makes people always want to bully others in a way of gaining respect, a good name earns genuine respect.

3. Wisdom

Having money without wisdom can be very disastrous. As a matter of fact, a rich man who lacks wisdom is a potential poor man. His lack of wisdom will sooner or later bring him down. Here is a proof that wisdom has more value than money:

(a) wisdom makes a man careful in his dealings with people, while money makes a man careless (due to over-confidence).

(b) wisdom defends a man during an attack, while money makes him a target.

(c) wisdom attracts the right people to you, while money brings all kinds of people around you.

(d) wisdom makes a man humble, while money makes a man arrogant.

4. Long life and a happy family

Having a fulfilled life is the best thing that can ever happen to anyone. Staying alive to see your children grow and become great is one wish everyone would want to see happen to him/her. But when life is cut-short amidst so much wealth, it does not make sense and amounts to nothing. This is why getting money in a way that will not allow you to live life to the fullest is foolishness and vanity because long life has more value than the money that you can not carry to the grave.
