One of the most challenging times for every woman is the pregnancy period. It is a period when they need all the care in the world anybody can ask of. This is understandable due to a lot of changes they notice inside and out of their body.
At a time like this, the best attention anyone can give to them to help in their pregnancy is to ensure they are given adequate medications and good foods that will provide all the necessary nutrients their condition requires. Eating just anything is not good enough. Here are the foods that they should be eating that can help in the proper development of the fetus in their womb.
1. Vegetables
Studies have shown that vegetables are good sources of calcium, iron, vitamin A, B6, B9, and C. Pregnant mothers need these nutrients for their fetal bone, teeth, ocular, and brain developments. They also help in the mother’s immune-boosting, production of the red blood cells, and the development of the fetal heart and spinal cord. These vegetables include spinach, cabbage, okra, and broccoli.
2. Yoghurts
This is a processed dairy food produced that is believed to be low in cholesterol due to the fermentation process. It is rich in calcium, vitamin B6, and B12. Taking yogurt can help in fetal bone, brain, nervous, and spinal cord development. It can also help the mothers to improve her immune boost, reduce nausea and vomiting.
3. Soybeans
This food is rich in calcium, iron, and vitamin B6. This reveals it will aid in fetal bone development, red blood cell production, brain development, and immune function.
4. Fruits
Fruits like guava, pawpaw, kiwi fruit, cashew, carrots, grapes, lemon, orange, pineapple, mango, bananas, and avocado pear are the most vital fruits for any pregnant woman. They collectively contain calcium, iron, vitamin A, B6, B9, and C nutrients. As a result of the presence of these rich nutrients, the fetus will possess strong bones, adequate red blood cells, good ocular development, a smart brain, a good circulatory system, and a strong immune.
5. Nuts
Nuts are also good for pregnant mothers. Nuts like tiger nuts, groundnuts, peanuts, and walnuts. They all contain a combination of calcium, iron, vitamin B6, B9, C, and D. By ensuring you eat at least one of these twice weekly as a pregnant woman, you are very sure of giving birth to a very healthy baby.
6. White beans
White beans are not just a proteinous food but it is also rich in calcium and iron. This food will be helpful for the fetal bone solidity and the supply of adequate oxygen due to the production of red blood cells.
7. Fish
It is dangerous for a pregnant woman to eat any kind of fish that comes her way. This is because most fish contain a high level of mercury- a poisonous element that affects the brain development of a fetus, making them develop neurological issues. Salmon and tilapia remain the best fish for every pregnant woman. They are rich in Calcium, iron, vitamin B6, B12, and D. These nutrients will make your child have strong bones, adequate red blood cells, a smart brain, and a coordinate nervous system.
8. Cornflakes
This food is produced from corn as the name implies. It contains calcium and iron. It is another good source of these nutrients, required for healthy bones and red blood cells.
9. Milk
Low cholesterol milk is the best option. Milk is rich in calcium, vitamin B6, and B12. Milk can boost fetal nervous system development and immune.

10. Meat
The meats that are best for pregnant women are organ meats like, the liver, heart, gizzard, kidney, and the brain. Turkey meat and pork is also good too. They are rich in iron, vitamin B6, B9, B12, and D. These nutrients can ensure the overall healthiness of the fetus leading to a safer delivery.
11. Egg
Egg yolk can be very helpful in the formation of the fetus than the white part. The egg is very rich in vitamins. It contains vitamins A, B6, B9, B12, and D. A recommended moderate consumption will be however more beneficial.
12. Sweet potato
This food is not just carbohydrate-rich but contains vitamins too. It is rich in vitamins A and B6. It helps fetal ocular and brain development.
13. Mushroom
This is also known as a toadstool. It is majorly useful in sauce and soup preparation. It is very rich in vitamin D. It is a very good source of fetal healthy bone development every pregnant mother can depend on.
14. Dates
This is a sweet fruity food that is known to be rich in glucose. It is also rich in iron, vitamins A, C, and D. This can help in fetal skin development and a healthier delivery for the pregnant mother.
